The Code turns 40 years old!
On May the 21st 2021, the BFLG secretariat joined over a thousand delegates worldwide in celebrating the 40th birthday of the WHO Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes at an online conference hosted by the Global Breastfeeding Collective.
The agenda covered:
The achievement of the Code in its first 40 years,
How the baby food industry marketing practices influence feeding decisions and public health,
How governments enforce legislation to protect against these marketing practices,
Tools and strategies for strengthening the Code and subsequent resolutions in years to come.
